Mortsafes were sold to higher society customers in the 1800’s as iron gate enclosures (or fences) to keep animals out and to prevent Resurrectionists (body snatchers) from stealing and selling the body. We pay homage to this practice by using clover style prongs to secure our coffin gem in it’s setting.
